VOLUNTEER POLICY

Welcome to RiteGiving
Our volunteers are the heart of everything we do. By sharing your time, talents, and compassion, you help connect generosity with those who need it most — strengthening communities across Jamaica and beyond. This Volunteer Policy outlines the expectations, responsibilities, and standards for everyone who volunteers with RiteGiving.
Please read this policy carefully before beginning your volunteer service. By participating as a RiteGiving volunteer, you agree to the terms set out below.
1. Purpose
This Volunteer Policy establishes the standards, rights, and responsibilities that govern all volunteers associated with RiteGiving. It is designed to:
Create a safe, inclusive, and rewarding volunteer environment
Protect volunteers, users, campaign creators, donors, and beneficiaries
Ensure consistent, professional conduct that reflects RiteGiving's values
Comply with applicable Jamaican laws and regulations
2. Our Mission
RiteGiving is a Jamaican crowdfunding platform dedicated to helping individuals, families, communities, charities, churches, schools, and nonprofit organizations raise funds for meaningful causes. Our platform is built on the principle that every act of generosity — no matter how small — can transform lives.
Volunteers are central to this mission. By contributing your time, skills, and compassion, you help bridge the gap between those who want to give and those who need support most.
3. Eligibility
Anyone may apply to volunteer with RiteGiving, provided they:
Are at least 18 years of age, or have written parental or guardian consent if under 18
Complete the RiteGiving volunteer application process
Agree to abide by this policy and all related RiteGiving policies
Demonstrate honesty, professionalism, and respect
Meet any additional role-specific requirements
Certain roles may require identity verification, reference checks, background screening, or interviews where appropriate and permitted under Jamaican law.
4. Volunteer Roles
RiteGiving offers a variety of volunteer opportunities, including but not limited to:
Community Outreach & Awareness
Campaign Promotion & Storytelling
Event Assistance & Coordination
Fundraising Support
Social Media Ambassador
Content Writing & Copyediting
Graphic Design & Visual Content
Photography & Videography
Administrative & Operational Support
Technical Support
Translation & Language Services
Community Moderation
Customer & Donor Assistance
Charity & NGO Partnership Support
Roles and responsibilities may evolve based on organizational needs and platform growth.
5. Volunteer Expectations
All RiteGiving volunteers are expected to:
Treat every individual — regardless of background — with dignity and respect
Act with honesty and integrity in all activities
Represent RiteGiving professionally at all times
Follow all instructions provided by volunteer coordinators
Respect cultural, religious, and personal differences
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all sensitive information
Protect the privacy of donors, users, and beneficiaries
Complete assigned tasks responsibly and on time
Communicate proactively if unable to fulfil a commitment
Comply with all applicable Jamaican laws and regulations
6. Code of Conduct
Volunteers must never:
Harass, threaten, bully, or discriminate against any person
Use offensive, abusive, or inappropriate language or imagery
Misrepresent RiteGiving or make statements on behalf of the organization without authorization
Collect donations outside of officially approved RiteGiving channels while representing RiteGiving
Request personal gifts, payments, or compensation from users, donors, or campaign creators
Disclose confidential or sensitive information to unauthorized parties
Engage in any fraudulent, deceptive, or dishonest practice
Use RiteGiving branding, logos, or materials without written permission
Misuse volunteer access, credentials, or system privileges
Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in immediate suspension or termination of volunteer status and, where applicable, referral to the relevant Jamaican authorities.
7. Confidentiality
In the course of volunteering, you may have access to confidential information, including:
Personal user information
Campaign details and financial data
Internal communications and business strategies
Donor identities and contribution records
This information must be kept strictly confidential and must not be disclosed, shared, or used for any purpose outside of your approved volunteer duties.
Confidentiality obligations remain in full effect after your volunteer service ends.
8. Privacy
Volunteers must comply with RiteGiving's Privacy Policy and all applicable provisions of the Jamaican Data Protection Act 2020.
Personal information accessed during volunteer activities may only be used for approved volunteer purposes and must be handled with the highest degree of care and discretion.
9. Conflict of Interest
Volunteers must promptly disclose any situation that could create — or appear to create — a conflict between their personal interests and the interests of RiteGiving. Examples include:
Promoting competing fundraising platforms while representing RiteGiving
Personally benefiting from volunteer decisions or access
Favouring campaigns involving close family members or business associates without disclosure
Undisclosed conflicts of interest may result in removal from volunteer service.
10. Child Protection
Any volunteer working with or around minors must:
Follow all RiteGiving child safeguarding procedures
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times
Avoid any form of inappropriate communication with children
Immediately report any concerns about child welfare or safety to RiteGiving and the appropriate Jamaican authorities
RiteGiving is committed to the safety and dignity of every child.
11. Health & Safety
Volunteers are expected to:
Follow all health and safety instructions provided by RiteGiving
Report accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions immediately
Avoid unnecessary personal risks while performing volunteer duties
Use any equipment safely and responsibly
Cease any activity that appears unsafe and report it promptly
12. Online Volunteers & Digital Security
Volunteers working in digital or online capacities must:
Protect all account credentials and login information
Use secure internet connections whenever handling RiteGiving-related activities
Never share passwords or access credentials with any unauthorized person
Adhere to all digital security and data protection policies
Refrain from attempting unauthorized access to any systems or accounts
13. Social Media Guidelines
Volunteers are encouraged to promote RiteGiving positively and authentically. However, volunteers must not:
Share confidential or non-public information on any social platform
Present personal opinions as official RiteGiving positions or statements
Publish misleading, inaccurate, or defamatory content
Post content that could damage RiteGiving's reputation or the trust of our community
When in doubt about what is appropriate to post, consult your volunteer coordinator before publishing.
14. Volunteer Recognition
RiteGiving deeply values every volunteer's contribution. Recognition may include:
Volunteer Appreciation Certificates
Digital Badges and Profile Recognition
Volunteer Awards and Honours
Public acknowledgement on RiteGiving platforms
Letters of Recommendation (where applicable)
Opportunities for leadership or advanced volunteer roles
Recognition is awarded at RiteGiving's discretion based on contribution, dedication, and impact.
15. Expenses & Compensation
Volunteer service with RiteGiving is unpaid unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Pre-approved, reasonable out-of-pocket expenses may be reimbursed where:
Written approval was obtained from RiteGiving prior to the expense being incurred
Original receipts or documentation are provided
Submissions are made within the timeframe specified by RiteGiving
Reimbursement is subject to RiteGiving's available resources and expense policies.
16. Volunteer Hours
Where required, volunteers must accurately record and report their volunteer hours using RiteGiving's approved process.
Falsifying or misrepresenting volunteer hours is a serious violation of this policy and may result in immediate removal and further action.
17. Intellectual Property
Materials created by volunteers specifically for RiteGiving in the course of their volunteer duties — including but not limited to graphics, articles, videos, training content, marketing materials, and designs — may be deemed the intellectual property of RiteGiving unless otherwise agreed in writing prior to creation.
Volunteers are encouraged to discuss intellectual property arrangements with their coordinator before commencing creative or technical work.
18. Equal Opportunity & Inclusion
RiteGiving is proud to welcome volunteers from all walks of life. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, disability, age, sex, gender identity, religion, or any other protected characteristic.
We are committed to creating an inclusive, respectful, and accessible volunteer environment where every individual can contribute meaningfully and feel valued.
19. Reporting Concerns
Volunteers are encouraged to speak up. If you witness or experience any of the following, please report it to RiteGiving immediately:
Unsafe or hazardous behaviour
Harassment, bullying, or discrimination
Suspected fraud or financial misconduct
Abuse or mistreatment of any individual
Data breaches or privacy violations
Policy violations
Conflicts of interest
All reports will be reviewed promptly and handled as confidentially as circumstances permit. RiteGiving does not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises a genuine concern in good faith.
20. Ending Volunteer Service
Volunteer service may conclude under the following circumstances:
The volunteer chooses to resign
The volunteer project or assignment concludes
The volunteer becomes inactive without prior notice
The volunteer breaches this policy or any related RiteGiving policy
RiteGiving determines that the role is no longer required
RiteGiving reserves the right to suspend or terminate a volunteer's participation at any time, with or without notice, where it deems this necessary to protect the platform, its users, or the integrity of the volunteer programme.
21. No Employment Relationship
Volunteering with RiteGiving does not create any employment, partnership, agency, or contractor relationship between the volunteer and RiteGiving.
Volunteers are not employees and are not entitled to wages, employee benefits, statutory entitlements, or guaranteed future opportunities under Jamaican labour law, unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing.
22. Policy Updates
RiteGiving may update this Volunteer Policy at any time to reflect improvements in volunteer management, changes to applicable laws, or updates to our services.
Volunteers will be notified of significant changes where reasonably practicable. Continued volunteering following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
